ABSTRACT
Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) remains one goldstandard surgical treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia/lower urinary tract symptoms. The usefulness a complete adenoma is questionable, with studies reporting no impact amount resected tissue on outcomes, irrespective volume. aim this study was to assess whether in less obstructed patients extensive TURP may be considered.Retrospective analysis 185 men undergoing university hospital. Retrieved data included pre-operative volume and Qmax, as well weight post-operative Qmax. Patients were divided two groups according Qmax < 10mL/s ≥ 10 mL/s.A correlation found between absolute group mL/s (r2 = 0.038, p 0.032), independently This association neither observed -0.033, 0.796) nor whole population 0.019, 0.064). Likewise, mL/s, improvement correlated percentage 0.036, 0.037 r2 0.040, 0.029, respectively). None these correlations 0.009, 0.463 -0.018, 0.294, respectively).Patients do profound resections, whereas lower seem benefit from resection.
