ABSTRACT
Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is rare and accounts for 1-2% of all primary intracranial tumors (ICT). There are conflicting reports regarding the increased incidence PCNSL over last two decades in both immunocompromised immunocompetent patients.This study was designed to clinicopathological characteristics access trend at our institute.All histopathologically proven cases were reviewed from January 1997 December 2009 (13 years). Immunophenotyping performed on available paraffin-embedded tissue blocks. Immune status evaluated human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) serology cases. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings recorded whenever available. Possibility secondary involvement by a systemic excluded every case. Statistical analysis done using χ2 -test.During period years), total 4715 ICT diagnosed, out which 66 PCNSL, accounted 1.4%. The age ranged 10 75 years with median 46 years. All patients immunocompetent. Frontal lobe most common site involvement. Diffuse large B-cell histological pattern CSF seen only one case.In this study, no significant increase found institute. Association HIV or acquired syndrome not study.
