ABSTRACT
Tuberculum sellae meningiomas (TSMs) present a special symptom because of the adherence and compression to optic nerve, artery, chiasm. A significant number patients with TSMs appear visual deficits. This study aimed investigate surgical indications exploring canal prognostic factors in neurosurgical treatment TSMs.Totally 21 TSM, who were operated from September 2007 August 2011 Department Neurosurgery, Tongren Hospital enrolled this study. Results orbital computed tomography (CT) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), acuity, Goldmann field test, color Doppler flow (CDI) test these retrospectively analyzed.Visual deficit involvement (OCI) detected all patients. Fourteen had bone proliferation within area canal. After operation, outcomes improved 13 patients, unchanged 7 deteriorated 1 patient. All performed CDI preoperatively, results showed that if peak systolic velocity (PSV) central retinal artery (CRA) value was ≤ 8 cm/s, outcome would be better. The TSM cases included: (1) The neuroimaging evidences OCI (CT and/or MRI); (2) PSV CRA cm/s; (3) acuity below 0.1; (4) deficit. could factor for TSMs.
