ABSTRACT
Chewing of processed arecanut products with tobacco and betel quid has been attributed to many oral pathological conditions. These are very popular among the youngsters lower economic groups. Genetic predisposition now identified as a major risk factor for increasing susceptibility toward disease these chewers. Our study mainly aims find out LOX (G473A) NQO1 (C609T) polymorphisms present comparison between population (habitually exposed smokeless products) metro-city Kolkata tea-garden workers Darjeeling district West Bengal.Subjects was recruited from various health check-up camps organized in tea-gardens city.Genotyping analysis done through Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP)-based approach.A two-way contingency table software (JAVASTAT: http://statpages.org/ctab2 × 2.html) using 95% confidence interval used distribution genotypes populations. A P < 0.05 considered be significant. The results indicates both heterozygous homozygous carriers C > T (609) found significantly higher north Bengal [OR 0.480 (0.280-0.82) = 0.01; 0.218 (0.091-0.524) 0.0001], respectively. Interestingly CT (21% both) TT (8% 7%, respectively) were equally distributed two For G (473) number individuals carry GA allele aged <30 years 3.779 (1.684-6.547) 0.001]. However, none carrier compared 29% above 31 years.A close observation occurrence diseases over time such will helpful identify responsible quid-induced diseases.
