ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Aim: The authors present their experience and the clinical results in decompressive craniectomy (DC) patients with vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Materials Methods: Between 2002 2010, six underwent DC due to cerebral infarct edema secondary SAH. Four were male, two female. age of ranged between 33 60 (mean: 47,6 ± 11,4). follow up period 12 104 months 36,6). SAH grading according World Federation Neurosurgeons (WFNS) score 3 5. Results: Last documented modified Rankin Score (mRS) 2 6. One patient died following year decompression pneumonia sepsis. Two had moderate disability (mRS 4) three continue life minimal deficit no major dependency 3). Conclusion: can be a life-saving procedure which provides better outcome infarction However, small number this study is main limitation accuracy results, more studies larger numbers are required evaluate efficiency group patients.
