Conceptualizing a Rehabilitation ‘Model of Care’ for Improving the Quality of Life of People with Parkinson’s in India

ABSTRACT
Given the rise in elderly population and predicted increase age-related diseases like Parkinson's disease, as well treatment gaps Low-and-Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), there is an urgent need to develop a culturally socioeconomically viable model of care that would be multidisciplinary, replicable, affordable, accessible those who it most. We present here outline rehabilitation care, which incorporates standardized group therapy format, community-based Support Centers, collaboration with local stakeholders ensure sustainability, active engagement People (PwPs) caregivers (CGs) programs. This unique 16-session multi-disciplinary community module for PwPs CGs evidence-based, easily deliverable by non-medical facilitators, relevant CGs, adaptable different groups, practical beneficial, effective - format. encompassing multidisciplinary module, holds promise implementation LMICs due its dynamic nature, cost-effectiveness, approach easy adaptability telehealth platforms. share our experience developing implications practice insights about work LMICs.
