ABSTRACT
Inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement still plays an essential role in preventing pulmonary embolism (PE) patients with contraindications to anticoagulant therapy. However, IVC does have long-term risks which may be mitigated by retrieving them as soon clinically acceptable. A dedicated clinic provides a potential means of assuring adequate follow-up and retrieval. To assess the efficacy our retrieval at improving rate patient follow-up, effective management, rates.During period August 2017 through July 2018, 70 filters were placed institution, these automatically enrolled into for quarterly follow-up. We retrospectively reviewed data including appropriateness removal 3 months, overall rates, technique(s) employed, technical success.62.9% potentially retrievable removed during study period. The success extraction, using combination standard advanced techniques, was 91.7%. Overall, 15% lost follow-up.Our findings add growing body literature support need robust ensure timely filters.
