A study to assess the knowledge and practice of medical professionals on radiation protection in interventional radiology

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective: Ionizing radiation has been extensively used in medical procedures throughout the world. Such interventional radiological could result occupational exposure that needs urgent control. Therefore, MPs (medical professionals) should receive education and appropriate training on protection. In this context, present study is aimed to investigate MPs’ knowledge practice regarding protection principles during procedures. Material Methods: A descriptive questionnaire-based was carried out among 215 involved fluoroscopy The of 31 studied using a checklist based ALARA ICRP guidelines. Results: total 43.3% 45.1% answered correctly for practice. However, difference between physicians nurses statistically significant. survey demonstrated rarely adhered radiation-protection measures. Conclusion: reflects lack concerning concepts nurses. This deficiency be resolved by periodic practical courses curriculum medicine.
