ABSTRACT
Prospective case series, therapeutic Level IV.Functional and radiographic outcome evaluation of patients with spondylolysis treated pars interarticularis defect repair iliac bone grafting application a construct consisting pair polyaxial pedicle screws connected by U-shaped rod passing beneath the spinous process.Twenty-five (27 operated lumbar levels) an average 20 months follow-up (range 12-24 m) who met our inclusion criteria were above-mentioned technique. Functional assessment was Visual Analog Score (VAS) for low back pain (LBP) Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Fusion confirmed plain x-rays when indicated computed tomography scan. Return to activities daily living (ADL) also assessed. There 16 males (64%) 9 females (36%), mean age 18 ± 3 years at surgery, operating time 79 13 min blood loss 186 57 ml. ODI significantly improved from 63 7 preoperatively 10 4 12 postoperatively (P < 0.001). The preoperative LBP VAS score 8 1 showed statistically significant decrease values months, At m, all returned unrestricted ADL. Pars healing present in 19 (76%) 6 months.Polyaxial pedicular offer effective reproducible treatment appropriate fusion rate, predictable return activities, good relief young adults.
