Outcomes of Standard Operating Procedures Instituted for Non-COVID Outpatient Department During COVID-19 Pandemic in Rural India

ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 has emerged as a major health care problem during 2020. The risk of infection and transmission led to imposition severe lockdown by the government. diversion machinery towards control transmission, treatment infected individuals compromise in delivery non-COVID ailments. This is truer rural unapproachable areas where facilities were already jeopardy. Study Design: A prospective observational study was conducted from May 2020 November at PGIMER satellite center, Sangrur. Methods: Standard operating procedures (SOP) instituted for physical consultation pandemic Sangrur, branch PGIMER, Chandigarh. These approved committee constituted this purpose. effectiveness these SOPs reported percentage healthcare workers who contracted OPD. Results: total 9963 patients attended Out Patient Department (OPD). Male female ratio 1.2:1. Maximum (6141) consultations sought general physician followed ophthalmologist (1464). Majority benign non-communicable disorders. Seventy visited OPD referred testing they had symptoms infection. 5 (3.8%) incidents among center. Conclusions: proved effective with low occupational hazard (HCW).
