The Effect of Toothpastes Containing Hydroxyapatite, Fluoroapatite, and Zn-Mg-hydroxyapatite Nanocrystals on Dentin Hypersensitivity

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to compare the effect toothpastes containing hydroxyapatite (nHAP), Zn-Mg-hydroxyapatite (nZnMgHAP), and fluorapatite (nFAP) nanocrystals on dentin hypersensitivity (DH) associated with noncarious cervical lesions.Thirty consenting volunteers aged 35-45 years DH were enrolled in a double-blind, parallel study, randomly assigned nHAP group (n = 10), nZnMgHAP or nFAP instructed use toothpaste twice daily for one month. primary outcome Schiff scores at baseline after 2 4 weeks.All patients fulfilled requirements, no adverse effects registered. A reduction registered 90%, 100%, 50% using nHAP, nZnMgHAP, nFAP-containing sizes 2.52 (confidence interval [CI] 95%: 0.82, 4.14), 3.30 (CI 1.33, 5.20), 1.44 0.09, 2.72), respectively. At weeks, index decreased significantly all groups compared baseline.nZnMgHAP may be considered promising agent management.
