ABSTRACT
Background: The epidemiological data regarding the prevalence rate of mental illness among tribal population are silent in India, spite having largest globally. There is limited knowledge actual morbidity people Manipur. present study aims to document patterns psychiatric inpatients and outpatients attending psychiatry outpatient department a tertiary care hospital Materials Methods: A cross-sectional design was adopted study. All adult patients designated/notified as by Government Manipur residing at least 10 years different parts state or Department Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal during period were considered total 240 samples collected through consecutive sampling method. Each prospective participant explained about study’s objectives, interviewing protocols, confidentiality measures. Following participant’s consent, self-developed semi-structured pro forma Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview for adults used collection. Results: finding undoubtedly discovered that highest percentage suffering from various types found be substance-use disorder (32%), followed generalized anxiety (25%), depression (14%), schizophrenia (12%), bipolar affective (10%), psychosis NOS (7%).
