Comparison of nurses' and nursing students' attitudes toward care provision to opposite-gender patients

ABSTRACT
Background: Nurses often have to care for the patients of opposite gender. This can be challenging both nurses and in Iran due Iranians' cultural religious beliefs. Objectives: The aim this study was compare nurses' nursing students' attitudes toward provision opposite-gender patients. Methods: cross-sectional conducted 2018 on a random sample 107 who worked four teaching hospitals, 95 bachelor's master's students from Hamadan University Medical Sciences, Hamadan, Iran. A 21-item researcher-made self-report questionnaire used data collection. were analyzed through independent samples t-test linear regression analysis. Results: mean scores 72.54 ± 15.47 66.87 14.80, respectively (P = 0.02). significant predictors their educational degree, history patients, clinical work experience. Conclusion: Many moderate Nursing poorer compared with highlight need revisions academic curriculum prepare them quality genders.
