ABSTRACT
A temperature controlled pavement has a significant requirement for preventing road from freezing, and avoiding winter traffic accidents at specific places. For example, slip accident tunnel mouth frequently occurs in causes serious danger human life heavy jam. Horizontal U-Tube (HUT) heating system was introduced order to prevent associated with freezing the west side of Nanaori-Toge tunnel, Aizu-bange, Fukushima Prefecture Japan. group U-tubes were buried depth 1.2 m ground central part tunnel. The heat extracted by HUT is injected into anti-freezing blocks made concrete through injection pipe mounted each block. Extensive field experiments have been carried out investigate surface temperature, micro-meteorological characteristics inside outside This paper presents experimental results regarding extraction performance system.
