Cancer Statistics in Korea: Incidence, Mortality, Survival, and Prevalence in 2013

ABSTRACT
This study described the 2013 nationwide cancer statistics in Korea, including incidence, survival, prevalence, and mortality. Cancer incidence data from 1999-2013 were obtained Korea National Incidence Database followed until December 31, 2014. Mortality 1983-2013 Statistics Korea. The prevalence was defined as number of patients alive on January 1, 2014 among all diagnosed since 1999. Crude, age-standardized 5-year relative survival rates also calculated. In 2013, a total 225,343 75,334 Koreans newly died cancer, respectively. for mortality 290.5 87.9 per 100,000, rate increased 3.1% annually between 1999 2013. However, overall have decreased slightly recent years (2011 to 2013). all-cancer has 2.7% 2002. Overall, people with 2009 69.4%, which represents an improved compared 41.2% 1993 1995.
