ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: Nephrotoxicity is a major complication of gentamicin (GEN), which widely used in the treatment severe Gram-negative infections. As we know, with nebivolol has been shown to decrease renal fi brosis and glomerular injury as well improve endothelial dysfunction. Therefore, evaluated potential protective effect (NBV) against GEN-induced nephrotoxicity rats.MATERIAL AND METHOD: Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group (Group 1); intraperitoneally injected GEN (100 mg/kg/day; Group 2); treated plus distilled water 3); NBV (10 4).After 15 days, sacrifi ced, their kidneys taken, blood analysis performed.Tubular necrosis interstitial scores determined histopathologically part kidneys; nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH) levels other kidneys.RESULTS: The GSH tissue only GEN-treated signifi cantly lower than those group, administration increased level GSH.The that was given had MDA NO kidney cortex alone.Despite presence mild tubular degeneration, GEN+NBV showed less necrosis, glomeruli maintained better morphology compared group.CONCLUSION: exerts antioxidant, anti-infl ammatory antifi brotic effects on damage by reducing oxidative stress rat model (Tab.3, Fig. 2, Ref. 68).
