Association between sleep timing shifts and dietary quality in Korean high school girls during COVID-19: a cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
Owing to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the shift from offline online classes has caused significant changes in high school students' daily habits, including sleep patterns and dietary intake. This study explored association between schedule fluctuations quality among girls during COVID-19 pandemic. examined bedtime, wake-up time, adolescent weekly online/offline period 517 Incheon, South Korea. The participants were divided into 2 groups: normal sleepers (n = 244), who maintained schedules defined as a midpoint bedtime time before 5:30 a.m., in-person classes; late 273), but exhibited after classes. Shorter duration was characteristic of with circadian rhythm disruption, also displayed poorer quality, higher consumption caffeinated beverages street food never consuming breakfast. Among 5 constituent factors, disrupted timing associated lower Nutrition Quotient for Adolescents scores total, moderation, environment. persisted independent grade level, even adjusting grade.
