ABSTRACT
Purpose: Fruit and vegetable juices are known to be rich sources of antioxidants, which have beneficial effects on diseases caused by oxidative stress. The purpose this study was directly compare the antioxidant activities fruit marketed in Korea. Methods: We analyzed four juices, two yellow-green six mixed juices. Antioxidant were using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) test, 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonate) (ABTS) oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay. Protective against DNA damage determined an ex vivo comet assay with human lymphocytes. Results: DPPH scavenging following order: blueberry juice > C kale P grape juice. ABTS Peroxyl as assessed ORAC Grape or showed strong abilities prevent lymphocytes, difference between them not significant according GSTM1/GSTT1 genotype. Conclusion: protective activity increased order juice, although rankings slightly different. Therefore, these polyphenols flavonoids deserve more attention for their high capacity.
