Age-Based Causes and Clinical Characteristics of Immediate-Type Food Allergy in Korean Children

ABSTRACT
Purpose: Age-based causes and clinical characteristics of immediate-type food allergy (FA) have not been sufficiently studied.Therefore, we investigated age-dependent profiles FA in Korean children through an extensive multicenter investigation.Methods: Using a case report form developed by the authors, retrospective medical record review was performed patients (0-18 years old) diagnosed with between September 2014 August 2015 14 tertiary hospitals Korea.Results: A total 1,353 adolescents, 93% younger than 7 years, were enrolled present study, 1,661 cases recorded these patients.The major causative foods cow's milk (28.1%), hen's eggs (27.6%), wheat (7.9%), walnuts (7.3%), peanuts (5.3%), buckwheat (1.9%), shrimps (1.9%).Categorizing into 4 age groups revealed that most common different for each group: (<2 years), (2-6 (7-12 (13-18 years).The onset time symptoms less 10 minutes 49%, 30 17%, 2 hours 34% cases.Food-induced anaphylaxis reported 506 (30.5%) out cases, food-induced (27.5%), (21.9%), (11.3%), (10.5%), (5.9%), (4.2%), pine nuts (3.0%).The proportion highest allergic to (67.7%), followed those (57.7%), (43.8%), (43.5%), (34.1%).Conclusions: The 5 milk, eggs, wheat, walnuts, peanuts.The distribution considerably distinctive according groups.Anaphylaxis 30.5% cases.
