ABSTRACT
The standard treatment for primary localized gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is surgical resection. clinical behavior of GIST after resection extremely variable. We conducted a multicenter, retrospective study GISTs patients who underwent curative to evaluate features and the prognosis surgically treated GISTs.We performed on 406 consecutive resections at four university hospitals in Daegu, Korea, between March 1998 2012. retrospectively collected medical records were reviewed with respect parameters including age, gender, location, approach, recurrence.There patients: 157 males (38.7%) 249 females (61.3%), mean age 60.8 ± 10.8 (standard deviation) years. size was 4.9 cm (range, 0.3-29 cm). Curative all without rupture or spillage. Laparoscopic wedge 156 (38.4%) open 250 (61.6%). laparoscopic group smaller than that (3.45 vs. 5.46 cm; P < 0.001). There 11 recurrent cases (2.7%). No recurrence observed resections.Gastric had low rate our series. feasible treating selected patients.
