ABSTRACT
We examined the effects of 3 months intensive education (IE) after hospital discharge compared to conventional (CE) on nutritional status and quality diet life among South Korean gastrectomy patients.The study was conducted 53 hospitalized in-patients (IE group, n = 28; CE 25) at Kyung Hee University Hospital Gangdong. Baseline data were collected from electronic medical records additional information gathered via anthropometric measurements, assessment through a patient-generated, subjective global (PG-SGA), assessment, measures self-efficacy satisfaction with meals for following discharge.Total PG-SGA scores significantly higher in group than IE 3-week post-discharge (5.2 vs. 10.4 P < 0.001), indicating greater severity malnutrition. Energy intake over increased both (from 1,390 1,726 kcal/day) 1,227 1,540 kcal/day). At post-discharge, had daily protein fat (P 0.05). Self-efficacy improved each category except 'difficulty eating adequate food'.
