Incidence and case fatality of acute myocardial infarction in Korea, 2011-2020

ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVESCardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of mortality worldwide, and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is particularly fatal condition. We evaluated the incidence case fatality rates AMI in Korea from 2011 to 2020. METHODSWe utilized data National Health Insurance Services (NHIS) calculate crude, age-standardized, age-specific rates, along with 30-day 1-year Age-standardized were determined using direct standardization 2005 population. RESULTSThe crude rate per 100,000 person-years consistently increased 44.7 68.3 2019, before decreasing slightly 66.2 The age-standardized displayed 19% rise followed by slight decline increasing trend for was more pronounced men than women.
