ABSTRACT
This paper presents a 120-day-long variability of chemical composition submicron particulate matter (PM1) over Warsaw. The content the following components was examined in PM1 mass: primary (POM) and secondary (SOM) organic matter, inorganic (SIM), elemental carbon (EC) as well Na Cl ions (primary matter). 24-hour concentrations were subject to seasonal fluctuations which are typical urban areas Poland; their values averaged 11 µg m–3 summer 17 winter. Most gaseous pollutants (SO2, NO2 NOx) revealed higher mean winter than summer. A statistical analysis meteorological parameters 24-h PM1, PM10, SO2, NOx confirmed significant influence air temperature precipitation on concentration patterns these highest occurred for wind directions: S, SE, N NE; NE, E S. back trajectories demonstrated that days with polluted masses arrived from S SE affected much 62%, comprises (SOM SIM). sources its precursors – smaller extent traffic combustion various fuels purpose heat power generation. Their average contribution development 15% 51%, respectively, entire period observations.
