ABSTRACT
36th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1444-1448
This work aims at comparing the electrical and thermal behaviour of half-cut cell modules and full-cell modules up to the result on the yield of a PV plant. Modelling and laboratory experiments confirm the better shading and hot spot behaviour of half-cut cell module but highlight also a lower efficiency in low light conditions. Using different PV plant configuration and localization, we determined that half-cut cell modules can sometimes be less valuable compared to full-cell module using the same initial cell efficiency in term of yield and cost.
