Seroprevalence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Hepatitis B in Blood Donors at the N’Zérékoré Regional Blood Transfusion Centre in Guinea

ABSTRACT
Blood transfusion saves lives and reduces morbidity mortality for a large number of diseases clinical conditions, but it is not without danger. The aim this study was to determine the seroprevalence HIV hepatitis B in blood donors received at regional Transfusion Centre N'Zérékoré (Guinea). This 5-year retrospective analytical study. We included records aged 18 60 years admitted Regional donation from January 2016 December 2020. performed descriptive analysis followed by Chi-2 or Fish-er-exact tests Student Wilcoxon test, multivariate logistic regression. In study, donor age ranged - years, with pre-dominance 25 34 (44.2%). Male were most represented our (79.0% versus 21.0% female). More than half group O (55.6%). observed 3.6% HIV, 13.4% HBsAg 0.2% co-infection. series, (OR = 1.89 P 0.001) 35 44 2.01 0.001), HBsAgserostatus 3.04 history factors associated positivity (P < 0.05). serostatus 0.01 HBsAgseropositivity. reported high prevalence HBsAg. Sex, serological status factors.
