ABSTRACT
Objectives: This paper aimed to assess the adoption of electronic medical records (EMRs) in healthcare facilities Dubai, largest city United Arab Emirates (UAE) and a location where extensive services are provided. It explored challenges, milestones, accomplishments associated with this process.Methods: A situation analysis was conducted by contacting 2,089 Dubai determine whether they had implemented EMR their practices identify challenges faced during process. Additionally, Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) utilized measure maturity level hospitals terms adoption. The EMRAM stages were rated on scale from 0 7, representing least mature stage 7 most mature.Results: By September 2023, all (100%, n = 54) 75% private clinics (n 1,460) EMRs. Several identified, including absence EMRs within facility, having an low score, or lack unified interoperability standard. clear licensing program for vendors, standalone cloud-based, among other noted.Conclusions: implementation is at stage. However, further efforts required both decision-making technical levels. We believe that our experience can benefit countries region implementing using health information systems.
