ABSTRACT
To evaluate the efficacy of combination therapy using transarterial chemoembolization with microwave ablation (MWA) vs. MWA monotherapy for hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) >3 cm in size. This two-arm retrospective observational study included patients HCCs who underwent either (29 patients) or (35 between 2014 and 2020. The treatment outcomes related to primary efficacy, local tumor progression (LTP), control rate, overall survival were compared each cohort. The technical success 96.56% 100.00% cohort, 91.42% respectively, over a mean follow-up period 27.6 months. 1- 3-year rates LTP-free 78.57% 69.56% 72.45% 35.44% respectively (P = 0.001). progression-free was longer cohort (median: 56.0 13.0 months; P 0.017). With incorporation additional locoregional therapy, not significantly different, 88.71% 90.15% 82.76% 0.235).The provided upfront when alone, albeit similar accounting therapies.
