ABSTRACT
This study aimed to explore the use of D-limonene and some vegetable oils with different amounts saturated unsaturated fatty acids as alternative green solvents for microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.). A standardized extract was selected evaluate its potential a chemopreventive agent. Alternative solvents, powder-to-solvent ratios, irradiation cycles were determined optimize MAE conditions. The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay performed assess cytotoxic effects against human breast cancer (MCF-7), liver (HepG2), mammary epithelium (hTert-HME1) cell lines. extracts obtained from palm oil contained highest concentrations cannabidiol (CBD) D-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). (DEC) containing 0.03% w/w CBD 1.37% THC evaluation activity compared THC. results revealed that exhibited significant (p<0.05) MCF-7 HepG2, 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) values 18.5 12.37 μg/mL 24.21 4.30 THC, respectively, whereas DEC moderate cytotoxicity (IC50 488.85 μg/mL). However, hTert-HME1 35.61 25.63 μg/mL, respectively), low 1.537.03 DECs appropriate levels have be candidates treatment. further investigations are required improve efficacy safety profiles.
