ABSTRACT
To assess the effects of rapid maxillary expansion (RME) and orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances on developing roots anchor teeth compared completely formed roots. Pre- post-treatment cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans 19 patients (mean pre-treatment age 10.9±1.3, mean 13.66±1.29) incompletely who had undergone RME were selected. In addition, 15 CBCT age- sex-matched untreated controls 13.69±1.08) same obtained. records experimental group segmented reconstructed to obtain linear volumetric measurements for comparison control group. Changes in root dimensions analyzed using paired t-test; Independent Student's t-test was used comparisons between groups. All premolars showed a statistically significant increase length volume (p<0.05), greatest seen second premolar. The distobuccal palatal lengths molars decreased significantly after groups no difference. attain normal appliances, differences
