ABSTRACT
Background: The implementation of surfactant for respiratory syndrome approbates the therapy as a revolutionary method inintensive neonatal and resuscitation. It is important to investigate costs this treatment. Objective: aim study analyze data by application Curosurf preterm babies withrespiratory complications describe treatment costs, healthcare resource utilization evaluate economic benefits ofsurfactant use in neonates with distress (RDS) hyaline-membrane disease (HDM). Methods: A retrospective survey was performed covering 167 based on due birthand necessity apply therapy. documentary implemented each patient, an individualresearch protocol filled out - questionnaire created specifically purposes study. Results discussion: An analysis from CUROSURF made obtained therapeuticresults were compared expenditures therapy, short-term therapeutic effect, consequences therapyof newborns complications. RDS resulted realizationof net savings elimination conducting several diagnostic procedures wellas their duration reduction hospital stay, thus defining its health-economic benefits.
