ABSTRACT
Plants are naturally endowed with the intrinsic ability to produce many chemical compounds, which defend against bacteria, fungi, insects and larger animals. Humans harness these compounds from various plants use them as traditional remedies for infectious non-infectious diseases. One of such is Tamarindus indica (Tamarind), a tropical tree that commonly grown in Africa. The phytochemicals this plant have been extracted by studies, demonstrated antidiarrheal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory antimicrobial activities. In study, we leaves T. tested their antibacterial activity Escherichia coli Salmonella spp. susceptibility test extract revealed substantial zones inhibition around agar wells containing different concentrations extract, indicating positive organisms. results obtained here could play vital role identification development druggable treatment bacterial infections.
