ABSTRACT
Background: The decision-making process about how to rehabilitate edentulous osseous defects in patients with head and neck cancer history can be complex.Even though, endosseous dental implants could considered the first choice for treating these patients, it is highly important aware of complications that might occur.The aim this report was describe clinical features mandibular fracture after placement on a irradiated patient update available information event.Case report: case describes 70-year-old man, medical background radiotherapy jaw bones treat carcinoma floor mouth later soft palate cheek.One week implant surgery, presented osteoradionecrosis healed 8 months.A right side body mandible diagnosed one year placement.Although several options were suggested order repair fracture, did not accept any further treatment despite callus formation being radiographically evident.The implant-supported prosthesis functionally useful more than years follow-up without significant problems.Conclusions: management oncologic require special considerations due risk its possible complications, such as pathologic fracture.It necessary provide full factors complications.
