ABSTRACT
Aridity is a severe threat to the ecological environment and it leads desertification. has become more serious hazard agricultural countries like Pakistan, followed by socio-economic problems. Pakistan an agrarian country Punjab province of known as basket grain for its population due fertile lands lush green fields. Less or no rainfall can convert any land region from humid semi-arid arid land. Deficiency moisture also defines conditions region. Hence, in case Punjab, aridity halt use full potential resources. There irresistible need comprehensively assess at different time scales formulate necessary arrangements action plans face this issue on sound footing. Remote sensing be used accurately measure local, regional global scales. Multi-temporal images Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) MOD13Q1 MOD11A1 are assessment. In study attempt was made demarcate areas simplest possible form using vegetation indices surface temperature. Maps developed normalized difference index (NDVI), transformed (TNDVI), soil adjusted (SAVI) temperature (LST). A weighted overlay analysis these done further comprehensive aridity. The results indicate that southern increased reduced precipitation northern regions province, developing especially those areas, which were semi past.
