Practice on Personal Hygiene Maintenance during Menstruation Cycle among School Girls in Dhaka City, Bangladesh

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Menstruation is the normal and regular process for every woman. It can affect both physical mental status of women. The main thing menstrual period personal hygiene maintenance. Improper management maintains causes infectious disease severe gynecological problems. In Bangladesh, most adolescent girls cannot ask any question about their physiological changes to mother or relative because shyness social stigma. Good during menstruation increase confidence, while inadequate lead mentally depression also hamper in daily activities. This study was aimed assess practice on maintenance among school selected schools Dhaka city, Bangladesh. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive type carried out three randomly city Bangladesh with 384 systematic girls. data were collected from respondents using semi-structured questionnaire by face-to-face interview, after taking verbal consent form participants written parents authority. Data entry analysis done Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical software version 20 analysis. anonymity confidentiality maintained strictly informed that they be able leave at stage collection. Findings: finding reported nearly 80% (79%) respondent use sanitary napkin non-users, 95.2 percent (77) piece cloths. majority (66%) change napkin/other materials 4 hours 90% take genital care regularly. Almost all (99.5%) bath regularly 99.5 wash hand soap water. About 98 used wear clean dresses 94.5 normally healthy food. Using found associated age, parent’s income whereas it not mother’s educational level. Conclusion: Awareness regarding need information good practices very important should given enhance level knowledge practices. Mass media emphasize health hygiene.
