Nurses' Knowledge of Adverse Medication Events and its Contributing Factors at Intensive Care Units: A Cross-Sectional Study

ABSTRACT
Context: Medication errors are a major concern in the healthcare setting, as they result from inappropriate use of products related to treatment or effects that lead harm. In Saudi Arabia, prescription constitute nearly one-fifth all medication errors. Still, there is difference dealing with process using medications based on each country and its background.
 Aim: To assess ICU nurses’ knowledge contributing factors regarding adverse events at Makkah City Hospitals Arabia.
 Methods: The study was cross-sectional conducted among nurses different hospitals City, Arabia. A random probability sampling technique used choose appropriate sample nurses. size 155 valid reliable questionnaire used.
 Results: There good for 13.5% participants. Most participants (86.5%) had poor events. mean score Nurses about Adverse Events 4.81±1.91 males 4.28±1,96 females. no significant statistical relationship between gender (t-test 1.653, p-value=0.598), education level (r=-0.137, p-value=0.089), workplace (r=0.072, p-value=0.376). negative age (r=-0.251, p-value=0.002), nationality (r=-0.739, p-value=0.000), role/profession (r=-0.242, p-value=0.002). statistically positive work weekly hours (r=0.205, p=0.010)
 Conclusion: study's underscores importance enhancing nurses' skills Hospital management should provide training opportunities help develop their administration prevent ensure patient safety.
