Physical activity levels of Portuguese adolescents in the first period of confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the first activities of teachers and coaches: a cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social confinement was declared in Portugal on 19th March 2020. Schools and sports clubs were closed, access all leisure facilities limited, young people have experienced restrictions regarding practice of physical activities sports. The purpose this study identify activity (PA) levels participation adolescents before during confinement, with whom they adopted by their education (PE) teachers coaches keep them physically active. An online survey conducted between 27th April 14th A total 3,012 Portuguese (57% females) aged 10 19 years old (14.3±2.4 old) took part study. Wilcoxon test paired-sample t-test chi-square independence used data analysis. results show that number students engaged PA increased lockdown (72.7% 88.2%). For those who practiced lockdown, frequency decreased from 4.7 sessions/week 4.4 (during confinement). did not started doing 4.1 sessions/week. vast majority PE (77.3%) proposed some pedagogical such as video conference classes (53.6%).
