ABSTRACT
The growing volumes of XML data sources on the Web or produced by enterprises, organizations etc. raise many performance challenges for management applications. In this work, we are concerned with distributed, peer-to-peer large corpora documents, based distributed hash table (or DHT, in short) overlay networks. We present ViP2P (standing Views Peer-to-Peer), a platform sharing documents structured P2P network infrastructure (DHT). At core stand materialized views, defined arbitrary queries, filled published anywhere network, and exploited to efficiently answer queries issued any peer. allows user be evaluated over peers two modes. First, long-running subscription mode, when query can registered system receive answers incrementally if matches query. Second, also asked an ad-hoc, snapshot where results required immediately must computed other long-running, queries. innovates similar DHT-based platforms using very expressive language. This expressivity leads flexible distribution content efficient execution. has been tested real deployments hundreds computers. architecture, its internal algorithms, demonstrate efficiency scalability through set experiments. Our experimental outgrow orders magnitude competitor systems terms volumes, size dissemination throughput.
