ABSTRACT
Modern video streaming services require quality assurance of the presented audiovisual material. Quality mechanisms allow platforms to provide levels that are considered sufficient yield user satisfaction, with least possible amount data transferred. A variety measures and approaches have been developed control quality, e.g., by adapting it network conditions. These include objective matrices thresholds identified means subjective perceptual judgments. The former group has recently gained attention (multi)media researchers. They call this area study ``Quality Experience'' (QoE). In paper, we present a review QoE's theoretical models together discussion their properties implications for field. We argue most them represent bottom-up approach modeling. Such focus on describing as many variables possible, but limited ability investigate causal relationship between them; therefore, applicability findings in practice is limited. To advance field, therefore propose structural, top-down model QoE describes relationships among variables. hope our framework will facilitate designing comparable experiments domain.
