ABSTRACT
WebAssembly (abbreviated as Wasm) was initially introduced for the Web but quickly extended its reach into various domains beyond Web. To create Wasm applications, developers can compile high-level programming languages binaries or manually convert equivalent textual formats binaries. Regardless of whether it is utilized within outside Web, execution supported by runtime. Such a runtime provides secure, memory-efficient, and sandboxed environment designed explicitly applications. This paper comprehensive survey research on runtimes. It covers 98 articles runtimes characterizes existing studies from two different angles, including "internal" runtimes(Wasm design, testing, analysis) "external" research(applying to domains). also proposes future directions about
