ABSTRACT
Colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been commercialized as the typically stabilized form via addition of a variety surfactants or polymers. Herein, to examine effects stabilizing AgNPs in suspension, we modified surface bare with four type (NaDDBS, SDS, TW80, CTAB) and polymers (PVP, PAA, PAH, CMC). The was applied compare suspension stability nanotoxicity test using Escherichia coli (E. coli) model organism. Modification chemical stabilizer may be not related molecular weight, but structure such ionic state functional group stabilizer. In this study, it is noteworthy that cationic (CTAB, PAH) were importantly toxic E. coli, rather than anionic stabilizers SDS). Comparing similar stabilizer, i.e., NaDDBS result showed lipophilicity can affect on because NaDDBS, which contains lipophilic benzene ring, accelerated cytotoxicity AgNPs. Interestingly, none tested, including biocompatible nonionic (i.e., TW80 cellulose) caused reduction AgNP toxicity. This toxicity cannot reduced stabilizers.
