ABSTRACT
Objective: Our goal was to study the effects of fasting and mean weather temperature on blood biochemical parameters urine test results in a group patients that present with renal colic an emergency department during month Ramadan. Material Methods: Patients who presented our from August 1-29, 2011 diagnosis were included study. Patient demographic characteristics, major complaints, laboratory values average day recorded. Results: During 29-day period, 61 diagnosed colic. Thirty-five fasting, while 26 them not. In comparison non-fasting patients, there no statistically significant differences terms age, arterial pressure, body temperature, glucose level, serum urea creatinine levels, erythrocytes, leukocytes, ketones density or chief complaint (p>0.05). Conclusion: Low volume reflects low fluid intake excessive loss, directly increases kidney stone risk by increasing urinary saturation stoneforming salts. Fasting may result limited increase presentations affecting chemistry concentration. this study, observed between mechanisms can cause (JAEM 2013; 12: 24-6)
