Capacity Development in Agricultural Education and training in Cambodia: A SWOT Analysis

ABSTRACT
This paper examines the current state of agricultural education and training (AET) system in Cambodia provides recommendations for Cambodian institutions policymakers enhancing AET system. We conducted two assessment trips June 2013 January 2014 to analyze Data were collected 53 interviews five focus groups using a modified-SWOT analysis framework. Stakeholder-identified strengths include political economic stability Cambodia, young labor force, increased educational enrollments, new schools curricula, good leadership, wide applicability skillsets. Weaknesses weak infrastructure, pedagogical stagnation, skills supply, disconnect between supply workforce demand, institutional administrative expertise. Meanwhile, threats strengthening limited public investment, gap agriculture education, low status agriculture, poor access higher education. Recommendations capacity development skill furthering links with NGOs private sector, while policy welcoming prudent regional integration investment across whole Comparing our findings other recent studies indicates that is facing similar challenges yet has its own unique path forge when developing cohesive strategy.
