ABSTRACT

Evapotranspiration is the transfer of water from earth's surface to atmosphere. It comprises sum losses atmosphere due processes evaporation moisture soil, bodies and wet plant canopies, transpiration plants. Forecasts this crucial component hydrologic cycle can be very valuable for growers, farm managers, irrigation practitioners, resource planners reservoir operators their planning, allocation, delivery scheduling decisions, as well scientists research purposes. Verifying reliability models’ forecasts among critical tasks development performance evaluation physical models. In fact, verification allows understanding behavior, evaluating applicability dependability. The US National Weather Service (NWS) has released a product that provides reference evapotranspiration (FRET) at 2.5-km grid resolution entire continental US. study, comparison made between ETo estimates FRET values calculated by California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) 68 days during summer 2019. Both were obtained NWS CIMIS, respectively, on basis 15 CIMIS locations are representative different climatic conditions in California. addition, air temperature, dew point relative humidity, wind speed, vapor pressure deficit (VPD) data also collected/calculated websites analyze sensitivity predictions these parameters. All performed with timescales 1, 3, 5 7 days. Statistical indices assess dependability values. They showed good correlation model outputs data, some differences depending characteristics selected weather stations’ locations, suggesting could anticipating near-future demand improve management California.
