<p>The EUs Water Framework Directive, was adopted on October 2000, and it has been the basis for water management in all EU countries since then (EU-WFD, 2000). According to EUs-WFD, use of groundwater bodies can be considered as sustaibale only when portion overall recharge not needed by ecology is abstracted Nonetheless, there are still cases where implementation EUs-WFD faces challenges, a need better communicate above message users. But how we achieve this at local scale?</p><p>In work, present example SW Messinia, Greece, an interlinked coastal-inland area Eastern Mediterranean region. In case study, supply uses (agriculture, tourism, domestic use) depends resources which also main freshwater provider coastal wetland with high ecological commercial value (Birds directive 2009/147/EC; Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC). Due man-made interventions over last 70 years, passed tipping point being brackish (Maneas et al., 2019), characterized saline hypersaline conditions nearly 30% year (Manzoni 2020). Unless inputs enhanced restoring hydrologic connectivity between surrounding bodies, salinity lagoon expected increase even more under future drier warmer balance societal needs, decision making get broader acceptance society?</p><p>Under COASTAL project (COASTAL, System Dynamic (SD) models communicating stakeholders towards improving land-sea interactions. model describes inland abstraction impacts wetland’s salinity.
