ABSTRACT

Commercial Microwave Link (CML) data can provide important rainfall information, in particular regions with low density of rain gauges and no radar coverage. We have set up operate a CML acquisition (DAQ) system for Burkina Faso report on the first larger scale analysis derived information.

Our real-time DAQ started as pilot project covering only eight CMLs was gradually extended. For monsoon season 2020 2021 it collected more than 1000 temporal resolution one minute. Our is focusing 300 which frequency range between 11 GHz 13 around city Ouagadougou, capital Faso. carry out comparison official daily gauge data, both individual well CML-derived maps. results period 2019, rainy indicate good performance Pearson correlation coefficient 0.8 higher.

The processing longer 7 9 GHz, connect urban centers Faso, currently progress. To tackle challenge noisy dry periods we are investigating use cloud cover type information from MSG SEVIRI data.
