ABSTRACT
Climate change is a pressing issue that affects countries and communities around the world. As global temperatures intermittently, so do occurrences intensities of extreme weather events: which creates compounding, sometimes simultaneous, instances disasters. Thus, it evident there an urgent need for improved paradigms within Disaster Risk Management (DRM) climate adaptation (CCA) domains, to promote better risk assessment, governance, communication, systems prevent, respond, disaster events. The DIRECTED project aims facilitate resilience among European societies, by creating cohesive approach Reduction (DRR) CCA strategies, promoting multi-risk thinking in relation compounding will achieve this through integrated models, interoperable data, cross-communication between actors, central platform, Data Fabric.  This presentation provides overview technical requirements analyses provide foundation Fabric; Fabric serve as federated spatial information system, capable integrating diverse data sources executing flood modeling across institutions. requires collaboration entire consortium, ensure interoperability, useability, longevity platform. Technical have been discussed with providers modelers establish infrastructure of  visualizing model outputs, well readily available data. Datasets involved range from custom file-based datasets Spatial Infrastructures Open API-based access. Additionally, mining activities carried out produce forecasts based on re-analysis publicly Copernicus: has done accessing archives calculating pixel-wise statistics, spatially quantify upcoming their potential severity. Significant challenges emerged include semantic encompasses aspects input parameterization, interpretation outputs. details how these are addressed DIRECTED, create user-friendly system. Based depth requirement analysis RWLs, we develop preliminary visualizations services, turn be hosted cloud-based Fabric. co-creation co-design thereby ensures end-users’ understanding useability platform whole.  Since plethora patterns exist scope (including, but not limited to: pluvial fluvial flooding, droughts, wildfires, erosion), represents significant step towards establishing robust adaptable meeting evolving needs geographically stakeholders.
