Intravesical Sodium Chondroitin Sulphate to Treat Overactive Bladder: Preliminary Result

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to verify the efficacy and safety of intravesical treatment with sodium chondroitin sulfate (CS) in patients overactive bladder (OAB) who are refractory previous antimuscarinic treatment.This was performed between June 2012 January 2015 included 31 consecutive women (mean age, 42.10±7.34 years) OAB had been previously treated two types drugs. The results gynecologic cystoscopic examinations were normal, comorbidity absent. Treatment instillations containing 40 mL CS (0.2%; 2 mg/mL) administered for 6 weeks; after weekly treatments, monthly treatments administered. OAB-validated 8 (OAB-V8) symptom scores, nocturia, frequency, urgency, urge incontinence, urinary volumes measured by uroflowmetry evaluated all patients. values obtained before statistically compared those six months treatment.The duration symptoms 18.36±6.19 months. A significant improvement patients' conditions observed terms OAB-V8 treatment.Despite limitations this study, outcomes confirmed that therapy is safe effective OAB.
