Colon Transit Time Test in Korean Children with Chronic Functional Constipation

ABSTRACT
Each ethnic group has a unique life style, including diets. Life style affects bowel movement. The aim of this study is to describe the results colon transit time (CTT) tests in Korean children who had chronic functional constipation based on highly refined data.One hundred ninety (86 males) out 415 performed CTT test under diagnosis according Rome III criteria at Konkuk University Medical Center from January 2006 through March 2015 were enrolled study. Two hundreds twenty-five excluded basis result, defecation diary, and clinical setting. Shapiro-Wilk Mann-Whitney U, chi-square used for statistical analysis.The median value interquartile range (IQR) was 54 (37.5) hours Encopresis group, those non-encopresis 40.2 (27.9) (p<0.001). frequency subtype between encopresis statistically significant (p=0.002). (n=154, 81.1%) divided into normal subgroup (n=84, 54.5%; IQR CTT=26.4 [9.6] hours), outlet obstruction (n=18, 11.7%; 62.4 [15.6] slow (n=52, 33.8%; 54.6 [21.0] hours]. (n=36, 18.9%) (n=8, 22.2%; CTT=32.4 [9.9] 67.8 [34.8] (n=20, 55.6%; 59.4 [62.7]hours).This provided basic pattern with constipation.
