Menstrual Health issues and their Impact on Quality of life: A study among college going girls in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

ABSTRACT
Menstrual health is a critical aspect of women's well-being, particularly for college students who face academic pressures and social challenges. morbidities, such as dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), are prevalent among young women can significantly affect their quality life (QoL). This study aims to assess the prevalence impact these conditions on daily lives girls, focusing performance, physical health, emotional interactions. The research also investigates coping mechanisms employed by barriers they in accessing appropriate medical care treatment. A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving sample girls Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Self-administered questionnaires were used gather data history, symptoms, effects QoL. findings revealed that most commonly reported morbidity, followed PMS. significant proportion participants issues affected engagement, with many missing classes or experiencing reduced concentration during periods. Emotional distress, mood swings irritability, emerged common issue, negatively impacting mental relationships. further highlighted while over-the-counter medications manage pain, substantial number faced challenges seeking advice due stigma, lack time, insufficient knowledge about available treatments. emphasizes need greater awareness, better healthcare access, supportive policies educational institutions improve overall well-being girls. results underscore importance addressing not just but factor influences broader aspects students' personal lives.
