Department of Chemistry, Institute of Basic Sciences, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Khandari Campus. Agra-282 002, Uttar Pradesh, India E-mail: dev_kumar26@indiatimes.com Manuscript received 16 August 2010, accepted 17 August 2010 Six new macrocyclic complexes, viz. [{Bzo3-[18]-pentaene N2O2}M(Il)(H2O]2](Ac)2. where, MZ+ = Cu2+, Co2+, [{Bzo3-[18]-pentaene N2O2}Ni(Il)(Ac)2] and [{Bzo3-[20]-pentaene N2O2}M(Il)(H2O)2](Ac)2, where, M2+ = Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+ have been synthesized by the reaction of 4,4'-butylenedioxodibenzaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine/p-phenylcnediamine in presence or metal salts by adopting template method and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, electronic spectral studies and magnetic moment values. The all compounds were screened for their biological studies against two bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (Gram +ve) and Escllerichia coli (Gram -ve) bacteria and fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus. Macrocyclic complexes were found more active as compared to their fragments.
